Overview

Close reading and written analysis are among the most heavily studied areas in education research. Landmark federally-commissioned reviews, including the National Reading Panel's report, found that explicit instruction in comprehension strategies and vocabulary produces measurably stronger, more engaged readers — skills that don't stop mattering once a student can technically read.
